POSITION PURPOSE
The HS Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the preventive management of work activities within their assigned area.
While the role does not involve direct personnel management, the coordinator interacts constantly with area supervisors and contractor supervisors, providing guidance on the field implementation of guidelines found in safety standards, safety procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) developed for the activity, as well as the use of HS tools and best practices regarding occupational health and safety.
FUNCTIONS
Actively participate in pre-shift briefings conducted by personnel in their assigned area.
Monitor and drive compliance with guidelines related to the company’s Safety Leadership Program (VLP).
Participate alongside area managers in daily work planning and ensure that HS guidelines are duly considered.
Continuously verify in the field that personnel (supervisors and workers) properly manage risks and strictly implement the controls outlined in HS tools.
Accompany teams during inspections, audits, government agency visits, and other walkthroughs within their assigned area.
Conduct formal safety inspections according to the established schedule.
Participate as a member of the incident investigation team.
Encourage personnel in their assigned area to report unsafe acts and conditions.
Collaborate with the assigned area manager to follow up on the resolution of reported observations.
EDUCATION
Completed university degree in Industrial Safety or related fields.
Completed master’s or postgraduate degree in Occupational Risk Prevention or related fields.
SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a safety or risk prevention inspector, supervisor, or coordinator in high-risk industries. CERTIFICATIONS
Training in construction process safety
Safety training for road-building equipment and heavy machinery
Nationally or internationally recognized certification in industrial safety and occupational health
