Position Purpose:
The Industrial Safety Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the preventive management of work in their area of responsibility. They interact continuously with area supervisors and contractor supervisors and provide advice on the field implementation of the guidelines contained in the standards, safety procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs) developed for the activity, the use of safety tools, and good practices in occupational health and safety. They verify that the performance of all personnel involved in field work complies with the company's occupational health and safety standards. They verify that workspaces have safe and healthy conditions in accordance with the company's occupational health and safety standards. They continuously reinforce the proper use of the company's safety tools among supervisors and workers in the area.
Functions:
- Actively participate in pre-workday talks conducted by personnel in their area of responsibility.
- Monitor and guide compliance with the guidelines related to the company's Safety Leadership Program (VLP).
- Participate, along with area managers, in daily work planning and ensure that HS guidelines are promptly addressed.
- Continuously verify in the field that staff (supervisor and workers) are properly managing risks and strictly implementing the controls established in HS tools.
- Provide support during inspections, audit processes, visits by government entities, and other visits in their area of responsibility.
- Conduct formal safety inspections according to established planning.
- Participate as a member of the incident investigation team.
- Encourage staff assigned to their area of responsibility to prepare reports of unsafe acts and conditions in their work area.
- Together with the assigned area manager, follow up on the closure of reported observations.
- Oversee that HS documents and records are properly generated, organized, and filed by the assigned area manager.
- Support the emergency response team during the occurrence and contingency of undesired events.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Academic:
Third- or fourth-level degree in Occupational Health and Industrial Safety registered with SENESCYT. - Preferably, hold the following certifications:
- Electrical Risk Prevention Certification from an MDT-accredited organization.
- Construction Risk Certification from an MDT-accredited organization.
- Safe Handling of Explosives Certification from an MDT-accredited organization.
- Trainer of Trainers Certification.
Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of experience in mining, tunneling, oil and gas, or related industries.
