Job Purpose:
To provide chemical analysis services to the Mine, Plant, and Exploration areas, ensuring the availability of reliable and timely information on the chemical characterization of submitted samples.
Functions:
- Supervise, control, and coordinate the assigned team to ensure compliance with established work standards and procedures, maximize productivity, and guarantee the completion of committed chemical analyses.
- Perform quality control on completed analyses and adhere to established procedures.
- Check the results obtained against current operating conditions (Plant and Mine samples) to ensure their reliability in relation to potential expected results.
- Enter results into the corresponding databases for timely delivery.
- Comply with and ensure compliance with safety regulations in the smelter sample preparation area and the wet chemical analysis area. Daily monitoring of sample reception times and dates, prioritizing and delivering results promptly, and coordinating work according to requests.
- Perform chemical analyses for process control at the Plant (composites, spot samples) for gold, silver, cyanide, pH, zinc, copper, and iron. This ensures the Plant has the necessary information to determine operational conditions, procedure effectiveness, and recoveries, and to decide on any necessary operational modifications.
- Perform daily chemical analyses of samples from the Mine and Exploration areas.
- Perform chemical analyses of test samples from the Metallurgical Laboratory (liquid and solid) as required.
- Perform chemical analyses of the final product (doré metal smelting area) to determine product quality and quantity.
Minimum Required Profile:
Academic:
University degree in fields such as Chemical Engineering or Pure Chemistry.
Experience:
3 to 5 years of experience in laboratory chemical analysis, preferably in the mining industry. Knowledge of atomic absorption spectroscopy, ICP, cyanide measurement in water, measurement of physicochemical parameters in water, and gold and silver analysis in minerals, concentrates, and doré bars (preferred).
Skills:
- Knowledge of ISO 17025 and ISO 9001 management systems is desirable. Experience with atomic absorption spectroscopy and fire assay (fusion and cupellation) in minerals and metallurgical products.
- Knowledge of basic laboratory equipment maintenance.
WORK LOCATION: Fruta del Norte, Zamora Chinchipe, Lundin Gold Ecuador. Availability to work a 14x14 schedule.
