JOB PURPOSE

Support the execution of operational activities in the Geology department by preparing, handling, cutting, and dispatching diamond core samples, as well as sampling and organizing the logging facilities, to ensure that geological information from the infill drilling program is generated in a timely and organized manner and meets the quality standards required in our department.

DUTIES

1. Receive and organize boxes of diamond core samples from the mine to ensure the traceability and safekeeping of geological information.

2. Cut core samples using a diamond-tipped disc cutter according to the geologist’s markings to ensure representative samples for laboratory analysis.

3. Prepare, bag, label, and dispatch samples (including QA/QC: blanks, duplicates, and standards as directed by the geologist) to ensure correct and timely shipment to the laboratory.

4. Deliver the samples to the operation’s in-house laboratory, verifying that the shipping manifest and receipt record match, to ensure the chain of custody and timely analysis.

5. Photograph and archive core boxes according to the area’s procedure to maintain digital and physical records of the drilling.

6. Assist in measuring basic geotechnical parameters (RQD, recovery) under the geologist’s supervision to contribute to the geological-geotechnical database.

7. Maintain order, cleanliness, and proper storage in the core shack and core storage area to ensure safe working conditions and the preservation of data.

8. Report substandard conditions and deviations in sample handling to ensure the integrity of the chain of custody and site safety.

EDUCATION

High school diploma (Required).

GENERAL EXPERIENCE

1 year of experience in similar positions.

SKILLS

Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office.
