Purpose of the role:
The Quarry Assistant will collaborate with the Foreman and Senior Quarry Coordinator in signage, traffic control, and support tasks for the drilling and blasting team.
Duties:
• Perform traffic control and signage tasks in the quarry.
• Control surface water, drainage, construction of sedimentation tanks, and placement of sedimentation barriers.
• Direct traffic in work areas with heavy machinery.
• Receive dump trucks at assigned loading and unloading locations.
• Place fixed and mobile signage in the quarry.
• Perform minor cleaning with hand tools.
• Provide support to the Drilling and Blasting personnel in marking holes and delimiting the work area.
• Act as a lookout for work near bodies of water, bank exploitation, and work on slopes.
• Participate in emergency response brigade activities.
• Participate in specific training and education provided by the Surface Operations department.
Scope of Responsibility and Complexity:
Works under the supervision of the Quarry Coordinator, in accordance with their guidelines, goals, deadlines, and established procedures.
Their work requires commitment to the Company's policies, principles, and procedures, as well as knowledge of mining operations and applicable legislation.
Integrated Occupational Health and Safety Responsibilities:
Ability to work long periods of time without compromising your safety or that of your colleagues.
Skills in handling small tools (shovels, picks)
Use specialized PPE for the task throughout your shift. (Gloves, mask, goggles, reflective clothing, etc.)
Minimum requirements:
Education
• High school diploma (preferred, but not required)
Experience
• Experience in similar jobs (preferred, but not required).
• Willingness to work on roads and platforms.
• Experience using small tools.
• Preferably with a Class B driver's license (Desirable, but not required).
• Additional Required skills and qualities:
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
• Ability to work night shifts.
