Role Purpose:
Reports directly to the Surface Operations Supervisor. The required position involves safely operating a 349 excavator or similar sized excavator to efficiently move material in a mine.

Duties
1. Operate the 349 excavator
2. Operate feed processing plants with an excavator
3. Safely perform scheduled lifts required by an excavator
4. Perform daily inspections required to keep equipment operating optimally
5. Follow safe work procedures when operating equipment
6. Perform all required inspections on the equipment
7. Work with other employees to safely perform any lifts or movements in the mine.
8. Report any equipment repair needs, material requirements, and any other maintenance requirements to keep production running.
9. Work with supervisors to develop lists of tooling, materials, and parts requirements.
10. Assist crews in their work regarding the operation of the equipment.
11. Report all accidents, incidents, and near misses involving their crew and take corrective action for immediate, long-term, and permanent remediation.
12. Follow all company health and safety procedures and plans.
13. Maintain the tools and materials necessary for the execution of the work.
14. Ensure the department's compliance with the requirements of the Government of Ecuador, environmental legislation, shareholder health and safety, and company regulations.

Scope of Responsibility and Complexity:
Demonstrate a high level of knowledge to operate an excavator safely.

Integrated Occupational Health and Safety Responsibilities:
• Employees must comply with national and health and safety regulations, company policies and procedures, and the company's environmental compliance policy. Employees will perform other duties as directed and required by the company to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Must wear personal protective equipment, including steel-toed shoes, long sleeves, and any other equipment to safely perform tasks as determined by the health and safety plan.
• Operate a light vehicle, including a pre-operational inspection, to access various locations in the underground mine for inspections, planning, and work supervision.
• Walk on rough, uneven, and wet terrain and climb ladders.
• Use personal protective equipment, such as respirators in dusty environments, and fall protection equipment when accessing equipment or working at height.

Minimum required qualifications:
Academic
• Training in the safe operation of the 349 excavator is an asset
Experience
• Experience operating 349 excavators or similar
• Experience in aggregate processing plants is an asset
• Experience in mining and concrete is an advantage
• Working knowledge of equipment, materials, and tools used in the industry
• Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations
• Good literary skills
• Excellent written and oral language skills
• English language skills are an advantage
