Purpose of this post:
The Rocas Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for leading the geotechnical and hydrogeological group. Works in collaboration with the Mine Engineering and Planning group to guarantee the safe and effective development of underground infrastructure and production areas. Leads the group in the design and control of soil quality, stability assessments, data collection and monitoring, interpretation, contract administration, assumptions and cost control. It focuses on the development of teams and mentoring activities to comply with safety and environmental legislation and regulations, company policies and procedures and good management practices.
Functions:
Lead the geotechnical and hydrogeological group to ensure the collection and interpretation of data and provide feedback to other groups.
Manage geotechnical and hydrogeological projects related to the underground mine.
Lead investigations and report on geotechnical incidents.
Participate in mine planning, optimization studies and evaluation of mining methods.
Complete geotechnical designs for staging areas and underground infrastructure.
Complete the ground support design, QA/QC1 and database management.
Collaborate with the Geology group to maintain structural and geotechnical models to guide the planning and design of the mine.
Implement, manage and interpret the results of geotechnical monitoring and data collection tools.
Train and guide expatriate workers and local staff.
Develop and manage the annual forecast associated with the group
Minimum Profile Required:
Academic
· Degree in Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or other related discipline.
Experience
10-15+ years of experience in underground mining with increasing levels. All relevant experience in mining will be taken into account as well as experience in consultancy
