JOB PURPOSE
The Lathe Maintenance Technician is responsible for manufacturing, repairing, welding, and refurbishing machine components on-site. This includes operating various lathes, applying heat treatments, and ensuring all work complies with safety and quality standards. The technician ensures all components meet required specifications and tolerances and participates in both preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
FUNTIONS

Machine various components of machines (e.g., shafts, bearings, pins) while adhering to tolerances.

Manufacture internal and external threads of various profiles.

Use precision tools such as micrometers, vernier calipers, dial gauges, and milling machines.

Fabricate machine components considering the materials and their properties.

Apply heat treatments to surfaces and use non-destructive testing methods.

Perform welding processes (arc welding, MIG/MAG, TIG) as needed.

Drive a vehicle to transport materials between the workshop and the warehouse.

Perform maintenance tasks related to preventive maintenance activities.

Participate in inspections of plant equipment.

Report any equipment repair needs, material requirements, or other maintenance needs to ensure continued production.

Maintain a clean and organized workspace.

Collaborate with supervisors to find solutions to issues arising in the workshop.

Report accidents, incidents, or near-misses to the supervisor for immediate corrective actions.

Follow all health and safety procedures and company policies.

Care for and maintain personal tools and workshop equipment.

Ensure compliance with Ecuadorian government regulations, environmental, health, and safety legislation, and company standards.

Perform other duties as required by the company to ensure the smooth functioning of operations.

- Report substandard acts and conditions and identify the risks associated with their activities.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE
3-5 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE

Minimum 5 years of experience as a manual lathe operator (linear, static for making parts) and portable lathe (boring machine, for rectifying housings) in industrial, petroleum, or large-scale component repair workshops.

Certification as a lathe operator (preferred).

Experience in arc welding, with knowledge of MIG/MAG and TIG welding (mandatory).

Experience in selecting materials and applying heat treatments.

Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations.

Familiarity with safety standards and regulations.

Practical knowledge of equipment, materials, and tools used in the industry.

Experience with heavy equipment mechanics.
